NightWatch+ is intended for use by parents and in-home caregivers.
The wearable sensor is suitable for anyone aged 4 or over.
NightWatch+ offers clinically validated, accurate detection of tonic-clonic, prolonged tonic, hyperkinetic, and myoclonic clustered seizures during sleep.
NightWatch+ uses heart rate, movement, and body position to monitor for potential seizure activity. When a severe nocturnal motor seizure occurs, it notifies caregivers instantly, enabling timely intervention reducing seizure-related risks.
It uses advanced PPG for heart rate tracking and a 3D accelerometer for body position and movement.
Heartrate sensor measures: High Heart rate, Tachycardia and Bradycardia
Motion sensor (ACC) measures: Vibrating, rhythmic and jerking motions
Body position sensor measures: Upright and horizontal position of the body
When the user is resting in a horizontal position, NightWatch+ enters high performance mode (detecting high heart-rate, tachycardia, bradycardia, vibrating-, rhythmic- and jerking motions). This mode ensures a high sensitivity and low false alarm rate.
When the user is in an upright position, the NightWatch+ only notifies for Tachycardia (heartrate at 33 or lower beats/minute for 40 seconds) and heavy rhythmic motions. The other algorithms go then into a lower performance mode to reduce potential false alarms.
The maximum effective distance between the alarm unit and the wearable sensor is 15 meters. The range can be lower in buildings with concrete and braided steel structures.
The NightWatch Portal records the heart rate and motion data, which can be used by health professionals and caregivers to gain a better understanding of any patterns associated with the seizures.
The alarm station doesn’t store any data internally.
It will only send data to the Portal when it is actively recording and connected to an internet access point (i.e. your broadband router) using an Ethernet cable (not supplied with the alarm).
If the nearest access point is too far for a direct cable connection, we recommend using a powerline adapter, or mobile router to bridge the connection.
This can be downloaded by patients, parents or caregivers. You’ll need to connect the alarm unit to the internet via an ethernet cable to ensure that data is recorded.
