Epi-Care free is a wrist-worn sensor that monitors for tonic-clonic seizures. When seizure activity is detected, alerts are sent to an included pager and control unit.
The lightweight sensor can be worn 24 hours a day and only needs an hour to charge. The advanced 3-axis accelerometer can detect convulsions and vibrations that occur during seizures. The intelligent gyroscope within the wristband can differentiate between a seizure and the movement of everyday activities.
With Epi-Care, safety is a top priority.
Epi-Care free may be ideal for parents who sleep in another part of the house, or for carers who are not always in the same room as the patient.
The wristband communicates wirelessly with the control unit which can be up to 20m away. The control unit then transmits an alert signal to the radio pager, which can be 100m from the control unit.
In the event of a seizure, the sensor will flash red, and the control unit will show the text ‘ALARM’ in the display, the right LED will light red and rapid beeping sounds will be played.
The pager will start vibrating and making beeping sounds allowing parents or carers to provide immediate assistance.
When used in a care home environment, you can connect multiple epilepsy sensors to one pager.
The pager’s on-screen notification will inform you which wrist sensor is activated so you can locate the patient quickly.
The Epi-Care system is an advanced epilepsy monitoring and alert system designed to help individuals manage their condition effectively.
It combines wearable devices, mobile apps, and cloud-based monitoring to provide comprehensive seizure detection, data analysis, and caregiver notification.

The battery on the bracelet can last up to 24 hours. After an estimated 2-3 years use, the sensor battery will not be able to accumulate power for 24 hours of use from each charge. The sensor battery can be replaced.

The sensor has a level of waterproof protection (IP37), meaning users can wear it whenever they wash hands or take a shower.
The wristband wirelessly connects to the control unit, which has an indoor range of up to 20 metres. This is the control unit which should be set up in the device user’s bedroom. It also connects to a pager that can be up to 100 metres* away from the person wearing the epilepsy alert bracelet.
* Please note that the maximum range between the base unit and the pager is based on line-of-sight between the two devices. With a clear line-of-sight, greater distances can be achieved.
The Epi-Care sensor will alert you when you are out of range from the control unit as well as informing you if the battery is low or the signal is interrupted.
The control unit is dependent on a power supply. In case of a power supply, the Epi-Care free control unit will continue for some seconds by means of an integrated backup battery, and will go into alarm mode before being shut down. An alarm will also be triggered in the external call system.
